Customers could see discolored water for up to a day following a large water main break Saturday morning in downtown Jamestown.

The break was reported by the city Board of Public Utilities around 8 a.m. at the intersection of North Main and Third streets. Water could be seen gushing from a manhole cover, and eventually caused a part of the road to buckle.

The area near the intersection, as well as down North Main Street, saw some flooding early Saturday. The flooding subsided once the break was isolated, the BPU said.

Crews were force to dig up the road to repair the water line. The area was closed to traffic for much of the morning and afternoon.

The BPU said water pressure was restored to customers impacted by the break, though water was expected to be discolored between 12 to 24 hours once all repairs were made.

Starting at $2.99/week.
