Jamestown Woman Charged With Violating Leandra’s Law
A Jamestown woman was charged with violating Leandra’s Law after allegedly driving intoxicated with a 6-year-old passenger.
According to Jamestown police, Vanessa M. Maldonado, 31, was pulled over Monday at 4:30 a.m. in front of 540 Lakeview Ave. for a loud muffler.
Investigation revealed that Maldonado was allegedly intoxicated and in possession of cocaine. A 6-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time.
Maldonado was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a child, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, no/inadequate muffler, uninspected vehicle, unrestrained backseat passenger, endangering the welfare of a child and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled susbtance.
She was taken to city jail to await arraignment.
Child Protective Services were notified of the incident.
