‘The Bar’ In Jamestown Ordered Shut Down
MAYVILLE — The Outback, commonly referred to as “The Bar,” was ordered to immediately cease all food and drink operations at its Jamestown location Friday.
The order was administered by the Chautauqua County Health and Human Services Department, which stated the operator, Edward Bowles, failed to maintain a valid permit to operate a food service establishment. “The Bar” is located at 114 Jones and Gifford Ave. in the city.
Christine Schuyler, county public health director, used her authority to invoke the New York State Sanitary Code, which regulates food and bar operations under the state’s Food Code. The order was served by the county’s Environmental Health Division.
“This is an unfortunate situation, but despite our efforts to work with The Outback/The Bar, the minimum requirements to maintain a valid permit to operate a food service establishment have not been met,” Schuyler said.
