A Jamestown man accused of the theft of guns from a Pine Grove business in December is also wanted to answer charges in Sarasota County, Fla.
Tyler T. Dalton, 25, of Jamestown, was involved in a car-pedestrian accident at 11:04 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report from the Jamestown Police Department. Police responded to the area of North Main and West Third streets and found Dalton with minor injuries at the scene of the accident. Police found Dalton allegedly had an active felony warrant from Sarasota County, Florida. Dalton was treated and released at UPMC Chautauqua before being taken to the Jamestown City Jail on a charge of being a fugitive from justice.
Dalton is one of two Jamestown men accused of breaking into the Tall Tales Sporting Goods store in Pine Grove in mid December. Dalton faces charges of felony second-degree burglary, third-degree felony retail theft, second-degree felony criminal trespass, third-degree felony criminal mischief, and second-degree felony theft by unlawful taking.
Dalton also faces charges in New York state of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (possession of an assault weapon), two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (high capacity magazines), two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (defaced), one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for having a quantity of methamphetamine on his person.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, two men entered the Tall Tales Sporting Goods store in Pine Grove Township on Dec. 14, approaching the north side of the building to damage or alter electrical wires to the building. Then, at 11:43 p.m., they allegedly broke the front window of the store and stole five AR rifles. The men then ran north. The State Police at Corry’s crime scene unit and State Police forensic service unit responded to the scene. Surveillance footage showed two white men committing the burglary, with one of the men not wearing a mask and the other’s nose showing through his mask. The surveillance footage was distributed over social media, and the State Police at Warren received a tip from Jamestown police saying Damion Dalton was involved in the burglary. Both Damion Dalton and Tyler Dalton were found in a Forest Avenue, Jamestown, apartment with two of the stolen rifles recovered by police as well as store tags from the gun store.
