Housing Committee Looks To Change Language In Property Maintenance Code
The city’s housing committee is supporting a resolution to change some of the language in a specific area of the Property Maintenance Code.
During a recent council work session, Councilman Bill Reynolds, R-Ward 5, said while it was not on the committee’s agenda a discussion was held in regards to the Property Maintenance Code, specifically a section regarding a required completion of forms.
“We did have a discussion about the city’s Property Maintenance Code, specifically section 215, subsection 41.1 about the change of the language in the resolution,” Reynolds said. “Not a whole lot of concern, but because of the way the paper flows and the way that forms are being completed and where they’re going it made sense to endorse that change under that resolution.”
The Property Maintenance Code Section 215 subsection 41.1 states that it is a mandatory requirement that all owners of residences which contain at least one rental unit complete and file a landlord registration form with the Jamestown City Clerk.
Kasie Foulk, city deputy director of housing and development, was in attendance at the Housing Committee meeting and spoke with them about this language change and uploading certain forms for landlords and tenants to be able to get them on the computer in an easier way.
“Kasie added that a lot of the forms are going to be up and running under Gov Pilot and be able to be more user friendly on the computer for landlords and tenants to get the information that they need concerning that project,” Reynolds said.
