‘Super Fun’: Chautauqua Safety Village Holiday Whobilation Event Set For Wednesday Night
ASHVILLE — The Chautauqua Safety Village’s Holiday Whobilation annual Christmas-themed event returns this year with even more games and activities for kids to enjoy.
Located at 2965 Route 394, this is the fourth year that the Chautauqua Safety Village will be putting on this event. Executive Director Jessica Dayton said the village was inspired to do a “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” themed event because of the village looking similar to Whoville.
“We modeled it after the Grinch because our village is reminiscent of Whoville,” Dayton said. “Of course, because of copyright, we called it Whobilation, but the idea is to have a town full of Christmas, similar to Whoville.”
This year’s Holiday Whobilation is set for Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Dayton said every year the village tries to add something new to the event, giving an example this year of one of the buildings allowing kids to come in and sit down and feel like they’re on a rollercoaster. Other annual activities this year include the familiar cookies with Mrs Clause, pictures with Santa, the North Pole observation center, Frozen and Paw Patrol characters walking around the village, the cars track with eclectic cars, the Grinch’s lair, and more.
“It’s a fun, festive, family-friendly event that will get you in the holiday spirit,” Dayton said. “Attendees will walk the streets of the Chautauqua Safety Village and help raise money to help us continue to provide safety classes to the community.”
Additionally, Dayton said that while there are some indoor activities, others will be outside and people will be walking through the different buildings of the village, so she recommended everyone dress for the weather with coats and boots.
Pre-sale tickets for the event are available now on the Chautauqua Safety Village’s website, chautauquasafetyvillage.com. Dayton said those who purchase pre-sale tickets will have the ability to skip the admissions line and enter the village quicker.
Dayton encouraged everyone to come out on Wednesday night.
“Every year it’s a super fun event,” Dayton said. “Come ready to have some Christmas fun. Kids always have a blast. Come help our community organization further our mission.”
