Chautauqua Striders officials have named Nolah Hamilton and Donavin Brown recipients of the 2024 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K Scholarships.

The scholarships, awarded annually in honor of the late Dan Feather, recognize outstanding student-athletes who embody the spirit of sportsmanship, commitment and dedication to both their athletic pursuits and community.

“I had the honor of having these two students work as counselors for the Youth Track & Field Development Program over the summer,” said Lexi Lindamer, Chautauqua Striders athletics director. “Throughout their time with Chautauqua Striders, Donavin and Nolah have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and integrity. They have consistently gone above and beyond in their roles, showing a genuine passion for mentoring, and inspiring the young athletes in our program. Their strong work ethic and leadership skills have made a significant impact on both the participants and the program as a whole. It is with great pride that we award Donavin and Nolah with the 2024 Daniel Feather Memorial Scholarship, as I am confident that they will continue to excel and inspire others in their future endeavors.”

Nolah is a graduating senior at Jamestown High School with a 97.8 unweighted GPA. She has been running since she was 5 years old and participated in the Striders Youth Track & Field Development Program as a child. Nolah continues to run cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field all through high school. She has qualified for sectionals in both track and field, and cross country, and even patched in the 4x800m relay in 2024. Nolah is the co-president of JHS’s National Honor Society, and a member of the JHS Key Club. Nolah also was a counselor at Chautauqua Striders’ Youth Track & Field Development Program over the summer and volunteered her time to help out on the course at the 2024 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K. Her post-graduation plans are to attend college and study pre-law.

Donavin is a senior at Southwestern High School. He has a 97.8 GPA and has participated in cross country and track and field for six years. In his time competing in track and field at Southwestern, the team has been both county and Section VI champion three times. Donavin also placed third overall at the NYSPHAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 4x800m relay in 2022. He holds the second-best time in school history in the 800m with a time of 1:57. Donavin was the first overall finisher in the 2023 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K, and second overall in 2024. He has also been a counselor at Chautauqua Striders’ Youth Track & Field Development Program for the past two summers. Donavin’s plans after graduation are to attend a four-year college and study to become a nurse practitioner.
