One Treated For Burns After Fire

One person was taken to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment of burns after a fire at 1121 Prendergast Ave. on Wednesday.

Jamestown firefighters responded to the home at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday to find light smoke in the area. City police officers told firefighters everyone who lives in the home was outside, three three people in the front yard with the police officers. ALSTAR Ambulance EMTs responded to the scene to evaluate those who remained at the scene. A fourth occupant of the home was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle for treatment of burns while four other people eventually sought care at UPMC Chautauqua as well.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about 10 minutes, according to a news release, with the fire put out with fire extinguishers.

Three engine companies, a ladder company and 16 firefighters, including a battalion chief, responded to the fire. Firefighters returned to quarters at 9:29 p.m.
