Sounds Of The Season: Emmy Award-Winning Actress To Bring Concert To Warren
Jane Lynch, a five-time Emmy award winner, will bring her musical Christmas performance to Warren at the end of the month.
Lynch’s “A Swingin’ Little Christmas” will come to Warren’s Struthers Library Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 as part of Lynch’s swing of 13 concerts that end Dec. 17. That includes eight shows in four days at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago.
The actress is known for her role as Sue Sylvester on Glee, numerous guest appearances on Two and a Half Men, a run recently as Miss Hannigan in a Broadway revival of Annie and a critically acclaimed national tour of her own cabaret show, Two Lost Souls with Kate Flannery. Flannery is most well known for her role on The Office while Davis was the vocal producer for Glee.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever recorded anything as an artist,” Lynch told Inside Westwood One Backstage at the 2016 American Music Awards during an interview with Ralphie Aversa.
Back in 2016, Lynch, Flannery, Tim Davis, a vocal producer for Glee, former a classic-sounding vocal group that is accompanied by the Tony Guerrero Quintet, a nationally recognized jazz ensemble. The group released “A Swingin’ Little Christmas” as a CD in 2016 and have been performing during the holiday season since.
“A Swingin’ Little Christmas” recalls Christmas albums of the 1950s and 1960s. The album features fifteen tracks, including fresh takes on ten classic carols and five brand new nostalgia-inspired originals, penned by bandleader, Tony Guerrero. Lynch and Flannery are known for their comedy, so the album includes lighthearted moments to go with the music.
“We did it all by ourselves on our nickel,” Lynch said in her interview with Aversa. “We didn’t have a label. We just figured it out. It’s big band. It’s beautiful musically. It’s boogie-woogie. It’s swinging and jazzy. We do 10 classic carols plus five originals.”
Lynch’s appearance at the Struthers Library Theater on Nov. 30 is sponsored by Northwest Bank. Tickets are available at strutherslibrarytheatre.org.
After appearing in the sitcom Two and a Half Men and the drama series The L Word, Lynch achieved her breakthrough role as Sue Sylvester in the musical comedy series Glee. She then played recurring roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Good Fight and Only Murders in the Building while hosting Hollywood Game Night from 2013 through 2020 and serving as host and executive producer of The Weakest Link since 2020. Notable film roles include the 40-Year-Old Virgin, Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Wreck-It Ralph, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Role Models.
