KIANTONE – One person was injured in a south county fire Sunday night.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 7 p.m., members with the Kiantone Volunteer Fire Department along with several mutual aid departments responded to a reported structure fire at 2490 Brown Street in the town of Kiantone.

The sole occupant of the residence was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment of injuries sustained in the fire.

After extinguishing the fire, the Kiantone Fire Chief requested the assistance of the county Fire Investigation Team to conduct an origin and cause investigation. Through investigation, the fire was determined to have started in the kitchen area of the home, however the cause of the fire is being ruled undetermined, pending further investigation.
