Dynamic Duo
Violin/Piano Recital Set For Saturday
The Mecham twins, Aaron and Boaz, joined by Mario Chai, and Makai Weeks, are scheduled to perform in a violin/piano recital set for Saturday at 4 p.m. at Christ First United Methodist Church, 663 Lakeview Ave.
Enjoy music from baroque to The Beatles and from Mozart to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the song that helped the Mechams win Chautauqua’s Got Talent in 2019.
The Mechams are currently enrolled in violin performance and piano at the State University of New York at Fredonia.
According to SUNY piano professor Sean Duggan, “These young men have set our school on fire with their enthusiasm, love of music, and their hunger to learn everything that they can.” In 2023, the twins won the SUNY Fredonia Concerto Competition; this feat presented an opportunity to play the Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos with the Fredonia College Symphony Orchestra.
“I thoroughly enjoyed your performance of the Poulenc concerto. Congratulations on an unforgettable moment on the King Concert Hall stage. You are interesting artists, and your duo is truly special,” Dr. Anne Kissel, SUNY Fredonia’s piano program director said.
The event is free with free-will offering to benefit the Mechams future collegiate studies at Julliard School of Music, in New York City or the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, in Oberlin, Ohio.
