Former Bank To Become Dunkin’ Coffee Shop
FALCONER – A Dunkin’ location appears to be coming to the southern end of Chautauqua County.
According to documents at the Chautauqua County Clerk’s Office, Manufacturers & Traders Trust Company of Buffalo sold 20 W. Main St., and a parcel on W. Falconer St., Falconer to Bapa 20 W. Main St Re LLC of Horseheads for $325,000.
That is the former M&T Bank in the village.
According to minutes from the Falconer Village Board, that location is going to become a Dunkin’ Donuts, which is the company’s former name. In January, 2019, the company officially became “Dunkin’, although their website is still www.dunkindonuts.com.
An email was sent to Mayor James Jaroszynski seeking additional information. That email was forwarded to the realtor who provided the contact information of the developer.
Abbey Celeste, marketing and communication director with Bapa Network LLC confirmed the plans and is expected to share more information in the future.
According to Bapa, LLC’s website, Bapa network & affiliates have a successful network of 83 restaurants of Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins between New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
The M&T Bank location closed on June 10, 2021. In an interview with The Post-Journal, M&T spokeswoman Julia Berchou said the decision to close the bank was not easy. “We know how important access to banking services is to our communities — which is one of the big reasons we’ve invested so much and our teams have worked so hard to add new capabilities and develop new skills that enable us to better serve people wherever they are — with online, mobile and telephone banking,” she said.
Currently the only Dunkin’ location in Chautauqua County is on Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk. There are multiple locations in both Erie, Pa. and the Buffalo region.
According to the company website, in 1948 company founder Bill Rosenberg opened a restaurant called “Open Kettle” which served premium coffee. By 1950, the restaurant was renamed Dunkin’ Donuts, saying that the name reflected the desire to dunk one’s doughnut in coffee.
According to the website Statista, Dunkin’ is the second-largest coffee shop chain in the United States with 9,580 locations, as of 2023. The largest is Starbucks.
