A Rare Sight: Piebald Deer Visits Lakewood Woman’s Yard

A piebald deer, nicknamed Pinto, has been a frequent visitor to the yard of Judy Johnson of Lakewood. Piebald deer are white-tailed deer with a genetic mutation that causes them to have varying amounts of white hairThey can range from having small amounts of white on their legs or sides to being almost completely white. Piebald deer are rare, with less than 2% of white-tailed deer being piebald. Piebald deer are different from albino deer, which have no pigment, pink eyes, and white or pink hooves.
