One of Jamestown’s biggest needs was filled Monday with the appointment of Ericka Thomas as city comptroller. The four-year appointment, one of the first announced by Mayor Kim Ecklund, officially was approved by the City Council.

“Ericka came from the private sector just like myself. She comes from … 35 years at eSolutions with me,” Ecklund told reporters shortly after she was sworn in as mayor. “I’ve worked with her throughout my career there in finance.”

She added, “She brings a tremendous background in budgeting and finance and, I think, will be a huge asset for us moving forward.”

Until Thomas’ appointment Monday, the position had been vacant for more than a year.

John Sellstrom announced his resignation as city comptroller in December 2022, just six months after taking the job. Sellstrom replaced Ryan Thompson.

Jennifer Williams also was reappointed to a four-year term Monday as city clerk and treasurer.

Ecklund also appointed Marie Carrubba, who just left the City Council, to the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities. Carrubba’s term is for two years.

Gregory Anderson and Lana Huston also were appointed to the BPU. Their terms will run through Dec. 31, 2027.

On the City Council, Ecklund appointed Jeff Russell, R-At-Large, and Tony Dolce, R-Ward II, to the BPU; Russell to the Jamestown Local Development Corp.; Andrew Faulkner, R-Ward VI, and Randy Daversa, R-At-Large, to the Conservation Commission; and Russ Bonfiglio, R-At Large, to the Riverfront Management Council.
