Sherman Names Next School Superintendent
SHERMAN — Carrie Yohe has been named Sherman Central School’s next superintendent. She will be the first woman to lead the district in that capacity when she starts April 18.
Members of the Sherman Central School Board voted unanimously on the appointment at a meeting Monday. She will succeed Michael Ginestre, who served as superintendent at Sherman for five years before accepting a position at Sweet Home.
Yohe’s appointment was the result of a search conducted with the assistance of School Leadership LLC that produced nine qualified applicants from “diverse geographic and professional backgrounds,” the district said. She has 14 years of service as an administrator in public education; for the past nine years, Yohe has been an administrator for the Bemus Point Central School District.
Yohe is currently director of student programs and data at Bemus Point.
“The board is extraordinarily pleased with the outcome of this search process,” the district said. “In the end, Mrs. Carrie Yohe proved herself to be the best fit to carry forward the vision of the district. Her track record of driving academic excellence at (Bemus Point) over the past nine years, along with her passion for working with students and families of the community, demonstrates her capability to succeed in this new role.”
Yohe has a bachelor’s degree from the Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from Penn State and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership and administration from both Gannon and Niagara universities.
“The Board of Education is excited to welcome Mrs. Yohe to our school community,” said Brian Bates, Sherman school board president. “We look forward to her dedicated leadership, community involvement and the school’s continued success.”
Added Yohe, “I’m honored to have been chosen for this position, and grateful to serve in this capacity. I will work collaboratively, with an emphasis on teamwork and a ‘students first’ mindset, to continue moving our district in a positive direction and improving the educational outcomes for all of our students.”
Yohe resides in Bemus Point with her husband, Jason, and their two children, Ellery and Kyle.
