Rescue Dog Finds Home With Local Officers
Trinity the dog’s forever home is with the police officer who helped rescue her.
The young female canine escaped from an apparently vacant home in Dunkirk Sept. 2 in terrible condition — full of insect bites, sick, dehydrated and malnourished. Denise Zentz, Dunkirk’s animal control officer, showed up and rushed the dog, who she dubbed Trinity, to Forestville Animal Hospital.
Officer Antoine McCall of the Dunkirk Police Department backed her up on the call. Zentz said he “responded to the scene with me when Trinity was located and followed her journey until he ultimately adopted her,” Zentz said.
McCall made the adoption Tuesday from the Chautauqua County Humane Society, where Trinity was taken after about a day of intensive doggy care at the animal hospital. She was later put in a foster program by the humane society while she continued to recover.
McCall is adopting the dog with his girlfriend, Officer April Echevarria of the Fredonia Police Department.
