Editor’s note: Starting on Giving Tuesday, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is featuring 12 examples of local people, inspired by their passions, who are using the foundation to make a difference for others.

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently approved the final designated grant awards for 2019.

With this approval, the total amount of money awarded in 2019 from these funds reached an all-time high of $847,893.

Grants were awarded to 127 organizations to support health and wellness initiatives, human service needs, animal welfare, educational opportunities, arts and culture programs, and youth development.

There were also a variety of funds administered by the Foundation that made grant awards for the first time in 2019. Some of those funds include: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County 4-H Endowment Fund; Jamestown Area Youth Soccer Fund; The Spicer Family Fund benefitting Falconer Public Library; The Spicer Family Fund benefitting St. Susan Center; The C. Clifford and Sigrid Z. Peterson American Red Cross Fund; Jamestown Sertoma Club Speech and Hearing Fund; and Pastors Adam and Amy Rohler First Covenant Church Mission Friends Fund.

“All of our designated funds were created by local people who felt so strongly about the good our community was doing that they wanted to ensure that work could continue forever,” said Tory Irgang, CRCF executive director.
