GERRY – One person received minor injuries in a house fire Monday.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, a fire broke out around 3 p.m. on Old Chautauqua Road in the town of Gerry.

The occupant, Charles E. Austin, 74, was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for minor burns and was later released.

According to the county Fire Investigation Team, it was determined that the fire was accidental in nature. The fire originated from a wood stove which was used to heat a portion of the residence.

Responding fire departments included Gerry, Sinclairville, Ellington, Stockton, Maple Springs, and Ellery Center.
