A 28-year-old Buffalo resident was identified as the man found dead inside a Jamestown apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.

An investigation into the apparent homicide of Marlon Clay remains ongoing, the Jamestown Police Department announced.

As first reported by The Post-Journal, first responders were alerted around noon Wednesday to an unresponsive person inside the Park View Apartments, 401 W. Fourth St. That person, identified Thursday as Clay, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Chautauqua County coroner.

Jamestown Police Chief Timothy Jackson indicated early on that the man’s death was “suspicious” in nature.

In its news release, Jamestown police said it was treating the incident as a homicide.

The department did not state how Clay was killed.

Two hours after the Buffalo man’s body had been discovered inside the apartment complex, several Jamestown police vehicles could be seen outside the Park View Apartments. A truck with the county’s Forensic Investigation Team showed up as well.

An investigator with the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office was later observed leaving the scene.

The DA’s office is currently assisting the police department.
