2nd Chances Thrift Store in Jamestown will close its doors in February. The Chautauqua County Humane Society, which operates the 707 Fairmount Ave. store in West Ellicott, cited “rising costs and significant shelter projects on the horizon” as the main reasons for its decision.

“We have considered all options for the store over the past two years before coming to this difficult conclusion,” Kellie Roberts, Humane Society executive director, told The Post-Journal in a statement. “Ultimately, the two most significant deciding factors were that the net income had declined considerably since the pandemic and that the CCHS board decided that the organization needed to consolidate its resources for significant shelter projects that are on the horizon.”

Roberts recognized “those who kept 2nd Chances going through the years.”

She added, “We are thankful to the employees and volunteers who have served the organization well. We have been lucky to have all of them working as part of the CCHS team and thank them for their dedication.

“We also thank our patrons who have supported the animals by shopping and donating to 2nd Chances.”

Prior to closing next month, 2nd Chances Thrift Store will continue its regular hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; everything in the store will be 50% off until further notice.

Further, 2nd Chances will no longer be accepting donations.

More information on the closing will be posted to Chqhumane.org as well as The Chautauqua County Humane Society and 2nd Chances Thrift Store Facebook pages.

Starting at $2.99/week.
