Lakewood Police, Fire Departments Note Increase In Crashes
LAKEWOOD — The village’s police and fire departments have noted an increased number of motor vehicle accidents in recent days, particularly on Fairmount Avenue.
“We would kindly like to remind people to follow the speed limit and stay attentive to the traffic flow as there is an increased traffic volume due to the holidays,” the Lakewood Fire Department and Lakewood-Busti Police Department stated jointly.
“In addition, when approaching an emergency scene, slow down, move over and listen to any emergency directives or detours,” the departments continued. “These are in place for the safety of motorists, first responders and to keep traffic moving. Do not try to skip any detours as this provides an incredible danger to first responders working on scene.
“It is the law to comply to any emergency traffic directives from fire and police personnel.”
