An inmate at the Chautauqua County Jail who allegedly injured staff is facing an assault charge.

The Sheriff’s Office, in a news release Tuesday, announced a second-degree assault charge against Oliver D. Bookman, 50, of Jamestown, following an investigation. The incident occurred at the jail, though no date or further details were provided. It was also unclear if the incident included more than one staff member at the jail.

Nonetheless, the Sheriff’s Office said the reported assault did cause physical injury.

Bookman is scheduled to appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
