Kiantone Man Charged In Pair Of Holiday Burglaries
KIANTONE — A town resident is facing charges after a pair of break-ins over two days.
At around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the town for a reported burglary in progress at 545 Kiantone Road. Upon arrival deputies searched the area and were unable to located anyone.
It was found that the residence had been broken into. Further investigation found that David A. Spunaugle, 45, of 1071 Spencer Road had gone in to the residence and was removing items from inside. Spunaugle was taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny.
On Friday, New York State Police at Jamestown responded to a vacant residence in the town for a report of a suspicious situation. Troopers observed a vehicle parked on the lawn and a subject, later identified as Spunaugle, exited the house.
An investigation revealed that Spunaugle had removed several items from the residence that he did not have permission to access. Spunaugle was subsequently placed under arrest.
Troopers and a Chautauqua County Sheriff K-9 Unit cleared the remainder of the residence without locating any additional subjects.
Spunaugle was transported to Jamestown where he was processed and then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.
