Scandinavian Folk Festival To Include Art Exhibits
The Scandinavian Folk Festival scheduled for July 19 and 20 at the Northwest Arena will include an art show entitled Scandinavian Artistic Views.
The show will be a Nordic journey through its art and heritage.
The objective of this project is to invite people to lend their Scandinavian art pieces, done by Scandinavian artists or artists who have Scandinavian roots, to be exhibited for the duration of the Scandanavian Folk Festival. Accepted pieces include paintings, sculptures, glassware, wood carved and chip-carved pieces, Swedish woven and huck woven items, knitted and crocheted articles, Nordic-style paintings such as rosemaling or kurbits, and woven and cross-stitch pieces.
All accepted applicants will receive free admission to the Folk Festival and an ABBAMANIA pass.
Those interested must fill out an application form for no more than three pieces of art before May 17 and send it to culturaSphere, PO Box 110, Jamestown NY 14701 or email culturaSphere2024@gmail.com. Application blanks are available at the festival website at scandinavianjamestown.org.
Art must be original and paintings should be framed.Organizers would like to see art in person if required and will notify applicants. Creators of selected art pieces will be notified via mail the first week of June.

A “Best of Show” contest will occur during the festival. The audience will vote for the winner, who will receive $100. An additional highlight of the show will be original artwork by Scandinavian artists such as Albert Johnson as well as other pieces on loan from museums.
