JCC To Host Local Talent Auditions May 2

Jamestown Community College will host auditions from 5 to 7 p.m. May 2 in the Scharmann Theatre of the Jamestown Campus for local talent to be considered for the Campus Life events lineup for the 2025-26 academic year.

JCC’s Campus Life delivers a mix of events to students to add another layer of depth to their academic experience. From performance artists to musical acts and networking events, Campus Life creates study break opportunities that are free and easy to access.

Student senators from the college recently attended a showcase in Hershey, Pa., that featured artists who perform at college campuses across the country.

“They were talented people, but when we pay for them to come to JCC, our students have never heard of them,” said Mufaro Malungisa, a sophomore senator and Computer Science student at the Jamestown Campus. “It makes more sense to hire talent from the area that some of our students might already be familiar with.”

This revelation inspired the decision to audition local talent for next year. Each act will have 10 minutes to perform, with five minutes of setup and takedown time between acts. Due to time constraints, audition spots are limited and given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those interested in auditioning can find the registration form at sunyjcc.edu/events.

“The registration will close on April 28 so we can prepare our evaluation sheets and think through how to be good hosts to the acts we have coming,” Malungisa said. “We’re excited to invite local talent to the college, and we want to make sure they are glad they auditioned.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
