Molitor Takes Part In Agriculture Literacy Week
Assemblyman Andrew Molitor, R-Westfield, recently participated in Agricultural Literacy Week by reading to students in classrooms across Chautauqua County.
As part of this annual initiative, he visited Westfield Academy and Central School and Chautauqua Lake Central School, engaging young learners with the book The Pie That Molly Grew by Sue Heavenrich.
New York Agricultural Literacy Week, organized by Cornell Cooperative Extension, is an annual event that brings together community leaders, educators and volunteers to promote agricultural education. The program focuses on providing students with an opportunity to learn about the importance of agriculture through storytelling and hands-on activities. This year’s event takes place from March 17 to 21 with volunteers statewide reading The Pie That Molly Grew, a story that follows Molly’s journey of planting a seed and nurturing it into a pumpkin, culminating in a community pie-making celebration.
“The collaborative spirit of Agricultural Literacy Week contributes to a supportive environment for agricultural programs in our region,” Molitor said. “It’s essential to provide students with an early understanding of where their food comes from and to highlight the importance of agriculture in our community. I was honored to take part in this effort and share this valuable learning experience with our young students.”
