Washington Middle School Launches Free After-School Program, Registration Open
Registration is now open for a new after-school program at Washington Middle School.
A free initiative made possible through the New York 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, the program is designed to support students academically, socially, and creatively by offering a safe, engaging, and constructive environment for learning and growth. The program will launch in late January 2025.
“We are excited to officially launch our after-school program here at Washington Middle School,” said Assistant Principal Tim Anderson. “The response has already been overwhelming, and we look forward to providing fun and engaging activities for our students.”
The program runs Monday through Friday, from 3:05 to 5:30 p.m., and includes a variety of activities:
– Specialized tutoring from qualified teachers and Chautauqua Striders
– Academic intervention to support student success
– Interactive sessions with Infinity Performing Arts and Prevention Works, including theater games and healthy living activities
– New clubs such as Lego, creative writing, and digital art clubs
“This program is a fantastic opportunity for our students to receive additional support, discover new interests, and build skills in a safe and engaging environment,” said Heather Meyer, JPS 21st Century Project Manager.
Over 50 students have already registered. Parents and guardians of Washington students are encouraged to register their students as soon as possible by visiting jpsny.org/washafterschool or by calling the school at (716) 483-4413.
