Ripley Man Killed In Saturday Crash
GREENFIELD, Pa. – A Ripley man was killed when his vehicle was hit by a snowplow on Route 89 in Greenfield, Pa., Saturday.
State Police at Erie report Thomas P. Dedinsky, 74, was killed at 2:39 p.m. Saturday when his vehicle ran into a snowplow after blowing snow prevented Dedinsky from seeing the plow coming from the opposite direction. According to a police report, Dedinsky was driving north on Route 89 while the plow was being driven south on Route 89 when snow blew from a field into the road, blocking the plow operator’s view. The plow operator told police he applied the brakes to slow down when Dedinsky’s vehicle hit the plow. The plow driver them used his emergency brake.
Dedinsky was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger in his vehicle had minor injuries. The plow driver was uninjured.
The State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene along with the State Police Forensic Services Unit. North East, Pa., police officers, the Crescent Hose Company from Sherman, Fuller Hose Company from Ripley, Czarnecki’s towing and several state troopers responded to the scene.
