Area Doctor Joins Braw Caddie Clan Scholarship Jury
The Stanley A. Weeks Braw Caddie Clan Excellence Award committee has named Dr. Zachary Eklum is its newest scholarship juror.
Eklum recently opened a family practice as part of Great Lakes Physician Practice in Jamestown.Eklum received his medical training at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and completed his residency in family medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital, also in Syracuse.
A graduate of Jamestown High School, Eklum was a recipient of the Weeks BCC Excellence Award in 2013. He will join past scholarship recipients Stephen Carlson, Benjamin Cecchini, Jonathan Healy, Luke Kindberg, Jacob Smeraldo and Andrew Pumford as part of the scholarship committee.
Awardees are evaluated based on their academic performance, athletic achievements, leadership in clubs, and community service. Teacher recommendations support these attributes and highlight how recipients have served as role models at Jamestown High School and beyond.
The scholarship will reach a milestone in 2025, awarding $2,000. The Braw Caddie Clan has remained alive for generations after Stanley Weeks cataloged and sequenced 627 members across three generations, saved histories and memorabilia, corresponded with many brothers, and organized reunions. He initiated the scholar-athlete award and ceremony to foster camaraderie and further excellence for future generations.
