Subaru Share The Love Event To Benefit Meals On Wheels Through January 2
Local Subaru car shoppers can help Jamestown Meals on Wheels safely provide essential home-delivered meals to Chautauqua County senior citizens.
This year is the twelfth year Jamestown Meals on Wheels and Shults Subaru, located at 311 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, have worked together on “Share the Love”, a six-week long event which spotlights the relationship between Meals on Wheels and Subaru, promotes all Subaru products and supports local Meals on Wheels programs.
“Share the Love” began Nov. 21, and runs through Jan. 2, 2025. During “Share the Love” Subaru of America can donate up to $325 to Meals on Wheels America, along with three other national charities, for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased. Jamestown Meals on Wheels is an approved Subaru Hometown Charity, which could mean the local program can receive an additional donation.
Barrie Yochim, Jamestown Meals on Wheels executive director, said “Share the Love” has raised more than $160,000 for Jamestown Meals on Wheels during the first 11 years of the annual event, which helps the organization provide home-delivered meals in the community.
“Without funding from “Share the Love”, there would be seniors in Chautauqua County going without food,” Yochim said. “This program makes a difference to helping keep our local senior citizens happy and healthy in their own homes.”
Shults Subaru’s participation in “Share the Love” and Meals on Wheels’ effort in the six-week promotion will ultimately help provide home-delivered meals to seniors in Chautauqua County.
“The more people who purchase or lease new Subaru vehicles, the more money could be generated for Meals on Wheels in Jamestown and for serving the hundreds of people we help every day,” Yochim said.
During the last 16 years, Subaru of America and its retailers have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to help those in need. For Meals on Wheels, that has resulted in more than 4.6 million meals served to seniors in local communities all across the United States.
Meals on Wheels America provides leadership to more than 5,000 local, community-based programs dedicated to fighting hunger and isolation among our nation’s homebound seniors. Each donation supports the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks that enable seniors to continue living nourished lives in their own homes.
Shults Auto Group has been a local partner with Jamestown Meals on Wheels for each year of “Share the Love.”
Locally, Jamestown Meals on Wheels has served thousands of meals thanks to “Share the Love”
“The money raised during “Share the Love” will help us get meals into the hands of all local seniors who need essential nutrition in order to remain in their homes.” Yochim said.
