A man has died in a Christmas morning fire. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies report the Brocton and Portland Fire Departments responded to the blaze at 98 Old Mill Road in Brocton around 5:10 a.m. Wednesday that was heavily damaged. After extinguishing the fire, the Brocton Fire Chief, contacted the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team to conduct an origin and cause investigation. After a thorough hands-on investigation, the fire was found to have started within the ceiling area of the basement. As a result of the fire, a male occupant was found to be deceased within the residence. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
