Lakewood Women’s Club Holiday Cookie, Candy Exchange
LAKEWOOD – Members of the Women’s Club of Lakewood recently kicked off the holiday season with a holiday cookie and candy exchange co-chaired by Marsha Hern and Lisa Burns.
In addition to the cookies and candy, members listened to holiday music. A recipe book containing all of the prepared goodies from that evening was created by Hern for each member to take home. The Folk/Americana Group, “The Sunny Siders” performed bluegrass music and completed the evening playing Christmas favorites.
Women’s club members have been busy within the community as well as surrounding areas. Admittance to November’s program required donations of non-perishable food items that were delivered to a local food pantry. The club shared thank you notes from Southwestern Elementary School’s Health Center for their donation of children’s clothing, as well as thank yous from the Lakewood Methodist Church for donations of hygiene products and food items for the church’s little pantry. Wyn Imfeld, club president, also thanked members who have been knitting hats, scarves, and mittens to be taken to the Hazeltine Public Library for distribution to families in need of warm winter wear. Becky Danielson heads up the club’s yearly tradition of sending holiday cards to every resident at each of the three senior centers in Lakewood community.
