Lakewood Women’s Club Has Busy Fall
LAKEWOOD – The 2024-25 year has already been very busy for the Lakewood Women’s Club.
The club’s annual September “Fall Wine and Cheese Membership Drive” was hosted by member Marge Johnson. This first event for the year welcomed current, new and prospective members in Johnson’s home. Sue Drago and Elain Wendelboe co-chaired the event. Gift baskets were given away with proceeds going toward the Women’s Club of Lakewood Scholarship Program. New members welcomed include Amanda Abbey, Ellen Andrews, Barbara Berry, Rachel Frisbee, Susan Kellogg, Fran Monaco, Cindy Osman, Tami Phillips and Karen Weikart.
At the first Lakewood Fall Festival, the club had a membership booth to welcome and introduce community members to the organization. Member Heather Thauer created several children’s activities with members helping and watching children use their fine and gross motor skills for each game. A Bill’s Packed Raffle Basket was offered, with all proceeds going to the various projects the club donates to the community and projects surrounding the village of Lakewood.
The club’s October program, co-chaired by Joy Reiss and Mary Lou Chimenti, was a presentation by Joy Reiss, a holistic frequency practitioner. Donations of hygiene products and food were brought to benefit the Lakewood Methodist Church’s public pantry. Donations of children’s clothing were also taken that evening to benefit the Southwestern Central Elementary School Health Center.
