Frewsburg Leo Club Celebrates 25 Year Anniversary
FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Leo Club celebrated their 25th anniversary recently along with its sponsor Frewsburg Lions Club.
After President Don Doves attended a Lions district meeting in Buffalo he decided to organize the Frewsburg Leo Club. The Leo Club has been serving the community since 1996. On April 14,1997, the Leo Club became chartered by Lions Clubs International and were presented with the charter by District 20 N Leos Chairman Dave Saunders and District 20 N Governor Floyd Silliman.
The Leos embody the parts of the Leo acronym Leadership, Experience and Opportunity.
The Leos have performed a variety of service projects and assisted other organizations in the community. Some examples would include food drives, helping to clear the Frewsburg segment of Rails to Trails, a “Senior Prom”, evacuation drills at the Frewsburg Rest Home and many other volunteer opportunities throughout Frewsburg and Jamestown. They were also instrumental in forming two new Leo Clubs.
The Leo Club was excited to celebrate their anniversary because it previously was cancelled on several occasions due to pandemic issues.
Special thanks were given to Leo Advisors Toni Stone, Jill Wiltsie and Don Dove, who were presented with Leo/Lion shirts and Lion Dove, Lion bookends.
