Ellington Library To Host Magic Show Saturday

ELLINGTON – The Ellington Farman Library is hosting a professional winter-themed magic show, open to the community, on Saturday starting at 11 a.m..

The show, titled “The Christmas Magic Show,” is being used as part of the library’s efforts to encourage children to read more during the holiday season.

“This particular magic show is something different – it was designed to promote the wonderful and giving nature of what Christmas is supposed to mean in terms of attitude without delving into any religious content,” said Judy Whittaker, library director. “The show will feature magic such as beautiful Christmas lights appearing from thin air, a drawing of a Christmas elf that comes to life, an indoor ‘Snowstorm’, and more!”

The magic show, presented by professional magician Cris Johnson, will feature music, age-appropriate humor, magic and audience participation. The program is a free family friendly event for all ages, particularly those ages 4-12 and adults. Funding for this program was provided by the Falconer Region Community Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

“I’ve been creating and presenting themed shows to libraries and schools all across North America for nearly 20 years and it’s a passion of mine,” Johnson said. “With budget cuts increasing all the time, we as a community really need to support our local libraries, encourage children to read more, watch less TV, and protect our children’s future.”

The Ellington Farman Library is located at 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. Admission is free, seating availability permitting. More information about library events is available at ellingtonlibrary.org and the library’s Facebook page.

Starting at $2.99/week.
