Clymer Central School Announces Students Of First Quarter
CLYMER – Clymer Central School officials recently announced the school’s “Pirate Pride” Students of the First Quarter.
During each marking period, faculty members nominate students in grades kindergarten through third, fourth through sixth, seventh through ninth, and tenth through twelfth grades to receive the honor. Students who are selected have demonstrated leadership, academic improvement, excellence, and service to their school or community. Members of the Character Crew Committee at Clymer review the nominations and select one student from each of the four grade-level divisions.
The Student of the Quarter for kindergarten through third grades is Leah Jackson, third grade and the daughter of Tiffany and Darryl Jackson. Some of her favorite subjects in school are writing and indoor recess. Leah’s hobbies include dancing, reading, watching TV, and being crafty. Leah is really good at playing the recorder, dancing, and swimming for the Corry Otters. Leah shows kindness at home by reading to her little sister, Harper. Leah’s hero is her mom because she looks up to her and believes in Leah. When Leah grows up, she would like to be a geography teacher in Clymer.
The Student of the Quarter for fourth through sixth grades is Niles Potocki, sixth grade and the son of Jennifer Lester and Norbert Potocki. Niles’ favorite subjects in school are gym, ELA, and math. His hobbies include playing video games, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, playing football, and hanging out with friends. Niles shows kindness by using manners in football, basketball, yard work, and in school. Niles’ family are his heroes because they are always there for him and give him a lot of advice. They are always willing to help out when asked. When Niles grows up, he wants to be a mechanic or a doctor.
The Student of the Quarter for seventh through ninth grades is Matthew Bartlett, seventh grade and the son of Chris and Beth Bartlett. Matthew participates in Clymer/Sherman/Panama cross-country and band. Outside of school, Matthew participates in the American Baptist Boys group at his church. Some recognitions Matthew has received include high honor roll and advanced math class. Matthew’s hobbies include hunting, hockey, and Legos. Future plans for Matthew include attending college for engineering.
The Student of the Quarter for 10th through 12th grades is Camryn Battaglia, 10th grade and the daughter of Steve and Melanie Battaglia. Some of the school activities in which she is involved are the Panama girls swim team, Impact, FFA, and track and field. Camryn has served on the Chautauqua County Footsteps team and the Corry Otters Swim team. She has received recognition as an Impact leader. Some of Camryn’s hobbies include baking bread, hunting, hiking, drawing, and hanging out with her cats. Camryn is interested in SUNY ESF and wants to focus on conservation biology.
