St. Luke’s To Host Veterans Day Service Sunday

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will hold a community Veterans Day Memorial Service on Sunday, beginning at 11:11 a.m., at the church’s 410 N. Main Street location.

According to Luke Fodor, the rector at St. Luke’s, the service will be held following the annual outdoor ceremony by the American Legion’s Ira Lou Springs Post, which is held at the corner of Third and Main streets.

“St. Luke’s has held the annual Veteran’s Day service as long as anyone here can remember,” Fodor said. “We especially remember all who gave their lives in the defense of our nation. We offer our appreciation to the members of the Ira Lou Spring Post 149 in sponsoring this Veterans’ Day service and are proud to join them in offering it to our community.”

Fodor explained how this year’s event guest speaker has exemplified patriotism and military service.

“This year we are excited to welcome former Chautauqua County Executive and United States Air Force Col., Vince Horrigan, as the guest speaker.,” he said. “Vince’s life has been one of service: after 27 years in the United States Air Force, he was a county legislator, director of the Southwestern NY Chapter of the American Red Cross, county executive and served in many volunteer capacities. This service is an opportunity to honor all those who have been of service to keep us safe and gave their lives in the defense of our nation.”
