Jamestown High School Announces Students Of Month
Jamestown High School officials recently released the school’s Students of the Month for October. They are:
Mya Sneed, ninth grade and the daughter of Melissa Sneed. Mya is a part of the Jamestown Color Guard and Winter Guard, and has a passion for reading, writing, and musicals. She is also the co-vice president of the Class of 2028 and is a part of many school clubs. After high school, Mya plans to attend Duke University for marine sciences.
Owen Propheter, 10th grade and the son of Steve and Jenny Propheter. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and family. After graduation, he plans to study something in the art field, and he hopes to find his art style here at JHS.
Angela Santizo Soto, 11th grade, is the daughter of Gladis Soto and Angel Santizo. Angela is a member of the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HYLI) and Key Club. Outside of school, she is a member of the Civil Air Patrol Jamestown Composite Squadron 402 program, where she volunteers at various events. In her spare time, she takes karate classes. After two years, Angela gained proficiency and exited the English Learner program, and is taking Advanced Placement and honors classes. She received recognition for her artwork in the 2023 JPS Student Art Show, as well as completing her first flight with the Civil Air Patrol. After graduating, she plans to enlist in the Air Force to become a pilot.
Jarren Cotter, 12th grade, is the son of Christopher and Suwapa Cotter. He is the captain of both the varsity soccer and varsity track teams, and is also the kicker for the varsity football team. Additionally, Jarren is a student member of the Jamestown School Board of Education, a member of the Key Club and National Honor Society, and a student advocate on both Jamestown’s Riverfront Management Council and the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy’s Education Committee. After graduation, he plans to study Environmental Science at Hamilton College.
