MAYVILLE – Students of the Month at Chautauqua Lake Central School honored for September achievements are Eli Schwing, Chloe Barrett, Aubrey Giles, Stefan Olson, Taylyn Stanton and Anthony Powell.
The student recognition program honors students in grades 7 through 12 whose classroom performance, attitude toward learning, work ethic, and extra-curricular activities set them apart.
Eli Schwing, seventh grade, is being recognized as Student of the Month for his character and work ethic. A social and kind young man, Eli is respectful to his teachers and dedicated to truly understanding the content he learns in class. He is not afraid to take risks, embracing challenges with determination and positivity. He enjoys playing Razzle Dazzle in gym class, and outside of school, he loves gaming, exploring new places, and going on vacations. This year, he’s looking forward to improving his football skills and continuing to push himself both in and out of the classroom.
Chloe Barrett, eighth grade, is being recognized as Student of the Month for her positive and adventurous spirit. She loves mountain biking on the trails, where she not only pushes herself but also helps new riders get started. In class, Chloe consistently arrives with a positive attitude and is a hardworking team player who always puts her best foot forward. She is diligent and stays on top of her work, often seeking ways to deepen her understanding of the material. Her favorite subject is gym, especially because of the chance to swim in the pool, and she enjoys playing softball and bowling. Chloe is inspired by Mrs. Monacelli, who encouraged her to keep trying when something seemed difficult, showing her the importance of perseverance.
Aubrey Giles, ninth grade, is an incredibly hardworking student whose assignments consistently showcase both creativity and strong effort. Always prepared and actively engaged in class, she stands out as a model of dedication. Outside the classroom, Aubrey excels as a member of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, where her passion for the sport truly shines–she loves almost everything about soccer. At school, she is inspired by Mrs. Rowe, who “pushes you to be your best but is also super understanding and supportive.” Aubrey’s future aspirations lie in criminal justice.
Stefan Olson, 10th grade, is a student who truly exemplifies positivity and dedication. He approaches each day with a bright attitude and enjoys being the person who can lift someone else’s spirits. Known for his kindness, politeness, and good sense of humor, Stefan greets everyone with a smile in the hallways. In class, he is inquisitive, hardworking, and not afraid to take risks. His favorite activity at school is gym, and outside of school, he loves hunting and fishing. Stefan looks up to Mr. McCray, who has inspired him to be a hard worker and to find joy in the tasks at hand.
Taylyn Stanton, 11th grade, is described by her teachers as one of the kindest and most patient students in our school, demonstrating quiet confidence, curiosity, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in every assignment as both a dedicated student and gifted writer. Her favorite subject is art, which she loves for the freedom it offers and the relaxation it brings. Outside of school, Taylyn enjoys figure skating and playing tennis and pickleball with her mom, who has been her biggest inspiration, always encouraging her to do her best in school. Looking ahead, she has set a personal goal to explore as many new opportunities as possible in the coming year.
Anthony Powll, 12th grade, has truly stepped up as a leader this year, excelling both in extracurricular activities and in the classroom. His attention to detail and dedication to mastering hands-on skills have stood out, as he consistently performs at a professional level. He is proactive, always ensuring his work is completed ahead of time and seeking clarification when needed. His drive and focus make him a pleasure to have in class. Mr. Reyda has been a significant influence, inspiring Anthony to grow into a more mature individual throughout high school. Anthony’s favorite classes are woodworking and VEX robotics, and he hopes to pursue a future as a radiologist technician.
