Alleged Sleepy Bus Driver Filmed By Student
The father of a Falconer Central School District student is piping hot over cell phone footage his child took of what appeared to be a drowsy bus driver operating a school bus.
Scott Wright said his daughter took a 20-second video that shows what appears to be a bus driver who drops her head for a second or two on the video and looks tired. However, the video in question only captured the bus driver’s reflection in the bus operator’s rear-view mirror and was shaky, bobbed up and down, and not very consistent.
“I called the principal of the school and the district’s superintendent,” Wright said. “I was told that the driver will be allowed to continue to drive – pending the outcome of an investigation.”
Wright said he shared the video with school officials to no avail.
“This happened yesterday afternoon when my daughter was coming back from BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services), ” he said. ” (Superintendent) Stephen Penhollow told me that they were only a few blocks from the school. … Really? That shouldn’t matter.”
A voice mail was left with the secretary for the High School’s Principal Jeffrey Jordan and a message was left directly with the FCSD superintendent’s secretary, requesting a return call from Penhollow. At the time of this writing there no official response has been received confirming or denying the allegations.
