Hideaway Bay Resort Taking Shape

SILVER CREEK — Developers of the Hideaway Bay Resort under construction are booking reservations starting in June, according to the resort website.

On a desolate January day, a large security fence cut off access to the wintry beach off Lake Avenue. The main building, which is supposed to contain a spa, a bar and a restaurant, and the 10 waterfront villas available for rent are far from finished. However, their presence signifies new hope for a prime lakeside site that was essentially abandoned for a few years. It also suffered a fire which destroyed the closed bar and restaurant that was previously there.

Nabbing one of the new villas won’t be cheap — June rentals start at $425 a night. But people can expect a comfortable beach experience in them, according to the resort website. Each will have two bedrooms, a bathroom, electric fireplaces for chilly nights, “a well-equipped kitchenette,” and a pull-out sofa in the common area for extra guests. They will also feature private rooftop patios.

The Hideaway Bay Resort website’s links for weddings and events, wellness/spa and dining currently have no information, instead inviting people to email with questions.

In response to questions on its Facebook page, Hideaway Bay Resort there will be a “soft opening” for the community in May, and hiring for resort staff is slated to begin in April, though inquiries for work this summer are already being accepted.

In another comment, it was stated the resort’s restaurant is supposed to open Memorial Day weekend.

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency provided incentives for the project and hosted a groundbreaking for the resort in June. Resort developers Kevin and Christian Cullen attended and Kevin called it “a beautiful, special site, it might be the most beautiful site on Lake Erie.”

A call to the phone number listed on the resort website went to Kevin Cullen’s voicemail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
