International Online Art Collective To Debut Exhibit Nov. 3
The 14 members of the International Online Art Collective are presenting Chain Reaction, a 100-piece art installation at the Pearl City Clay House in Jamestown.
The exhibition will open to the public November 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. and be on display through Dec. 30. The public is invited to meet the artists who will be in town specially for the show’s opening weekend and participate in free art events and workshops over the course of the exhibition. Pearl City Clay House is to host the IOAC’s first in-person show in North America.
“We’re so excited to be the first gallery to host this dynamic group of artists as their exhibition starts its global tour” said Deb Eck, curator and program director of Pearl City Clay House.
“Chain Reaction” is the collective’s most ambitious project so far, according to members who said they think of it as a very long distance game of “telephone.” Starting with one single piece, each piece inspired the other, provoking a literal chain of artworks, culminating in the grand total of 100 pieces assembled into one bigger physical multi media installation.
“I am thrilled to bring this collaborative work to Jamestown and introduce these amazing international artists–and their work– to our community,” said Wendy Bale, a Jamestown member of the collective.
Up until recently, the IOAC’s activities have been entirely online, as their name suggests, but now they are beginning a chain reaction of physical exhibitions which will take them around the world to meet in person at last. IOAC’s 14 members have been working on the “Chain Reaction” project for over two years.
“It started with this crazy idea back during lockdown, to create 100 pieces of art together, and here we are, two years on — we did it!” said UK artist and project initiator Ruth Christensen.
Founded in the spring of 2020, artists reside in eight different countries.
