Falconer Schools Release Plans For Opening
FALCONER — Falconer Central Schools will open for students on Tuesday, Sept. 7, with a full day of school for students in third through 12th grades.
Students in kindergarten through second grades will have half-days on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and Wednesday, Sept. 8, with a noon dismissal time. Teachers and teaching assistants will report Sept. 1-3, and all staff will report on Friday, Sept. 3, for a day of orientation and preparation.
All students in UPK, kindergarten, first and second grades will be attending Temple Elementary School. Temple’s student hours are from 8:35 a.m. until 3:20 p.m., with a breakfast program provided. Third and through fifth-grade students will be attending Fenner Elementary School. Fenner’s student hours are 7:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., with a breakfast program provided. Fenner’s main school door will open at 7:30 a.m.
Universal pre-kindergarten will not be starting on Sept. 7. Orientation for UPK students will be on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 8:35 to 9:35 a.m. for morning UPK students and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for afternoon UPK students. The first regular day of UPK will be Friday, Sept. 10. UPK students who are not eligible to ride the school bus must be transported by a parent/guardian.
School hours for middle/high school students will be 7:43 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. The main school doors will be open at 7:25 a.m. The afternoon bus run for middle/high school students for 2021-22 will be as follows: regular take-home bus run will leave at 2:35 p.m. A second bus will be available for middle/high school students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 3:10 p.m. There will be a detention bus departing at 4:15 p.m. from the middle/high school on Tuesday and Thursday only. The late and detention buses will drop students off at the Kennedy Library and the Ellington Library. Parents should pick up their students at these drop-off locations. Parents may pick up, at the middle/high school, any other students staying late who are not on these two scheduled bus runs. The parent pick-up area is located in the parking lot by the middle school doors.
Parents of students in universal pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, third and sixth grades will receive information regarding bus routes and time schedules in the mail. Any parent who has a question regarding bus runs should call Mr. Peterson at 665-5290 or 665-6624 — press (8) then (2).
Class schedules for students in sixth through 12th grades will be handed out at the open house on Sept. 2 at the middle/high school.
Open house hours for the district are:
¯ middle/high school, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2;
¯ Fenner Elementary School, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2; and
¯ Temple Elementary School, 5 to 5:30 p.m. (A-L), 5:30 to 6 p.m. (M-Z) on Thursday, Sept. 2.
New residents should call their respective building to make an appointment to register their children.
Cafeterias will be open beginning the first day of school for breakfast and lunch. There is no cost for school meals this year.
