Fall classes include ballet instruction at all levels for girls and boys ages 3 and up. Supplementary classes include Modern Class and Boys Classes. Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet students are also offered special workshops throughout the year by guest artists, choreographers and instructors. Special scholarships are available to male students. Financial assistance is also available to eligible students.
Monika Alch, CRYB artistic director, has added Samantha Barczak Young to the CRYB faculty. An Upstate New York native, Samantha Barczak received the majority of her early dance training at Myers Ballet School before furthering her studies on scholarship at The Rock School for Dance Education, American Ballet Theatre, and the New York State Summer School for the Arts. Upon graduation she began a career as a freelance dancer, performing as a guest artist with several American companies including Dayton Ballet, Northeast Ballet Company, Long Island Ballet Theatre, BalletFleming, and Contrast Dance Theatre. She performed with Pennsylvania Ballet as a guest artist prior to joining the company full time in 2011. In addition to her extensive professional performance experience, Ms. Barczak has been an active educator and guest faculty positions at many regional schools.
In addition to Alch and Barczak the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet faculty includes Sandra Mangusing, Maya Swanson, Rudi Andalora and Telly Ortiz.
Alch also said the The Nutcracker will return to the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts this December, barring any changes in performance mandates. Open auditions for this year’s Nutcracker will be held Sunday, Sept. 12, beginning at 2 p.m. Check www.cryb.net for more information.
The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet is a not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality classical ballet instruction to youth throughout the Chautauqua region. CRYB produces two major productions a year — the full-length Nutcracker ballet each December and a Spring performance featuring all the students of the program.
