Students of the Month at Chautauqua Lake Central School, honored for January achievements, are Ryan Petroff, Ian Riedesel, Cole Otto, Eliot Reyda, Kristina Dickey and Olivia Chambers.
Petroff is the son of Kathy Petroff of Ripley. Project Lead the Way Engineering courses are the classes he enjoys the most. Petroff has competed on the soccer and basketball teams since seventh grade and the track and field team since ninth grade. He has earned a variety of awards including: Outstanding Dedication award for basketball (seventh and eighth grade), Varsity Coaches Award for both soccer and basketball (eleventh grade) and the Fall Season Scholar Athlete Honorable Mention Award (twelfth grade). Petroff plans on attending Erie Community College and University of Buffalo to study mechanical engineering and technology.
Riedesel, son of Connie and Craig Riedesel of Mayville, is a junior who names Spanish and math as his favorite classes this year. He has competed on the soccer team since seventh grade and the golf team since eighth grade. Outside of school, Ian enjoys sports. After high school, he is planning on becoming an aeronautical engineer.
Otto, son of Steven and Jill Otto of Ripley, has competed on the school baseball team since seventh grade, on the soccer team for the past two years, and in eighth grade, he played on the basketball team. Otto has been on the honor roll throughout his high school career. Outside of school, Cole enjoys playing video games and watching anime. In the future, he would like to try to become a professional soccer player or to make videos on YouTube.
Reyda, a freshman, is the son of Tara and Joe Reyda of Mayville. Reyda has competed on both the basketball and the baseball teams since seventh grade. He is consistently on the high honor roll. Outside of school, Eliot enjoys playing video games, spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, reading, hiking, and biking. Reyda’s future plans are to go to college.
Dickey, an eighth grade, is the daughter of Kevin and Susan Dickey of Ripley. She enjoyed competing on the volleyball team in seventh grade and is looking forward to competing on it again this year. She has consistently been on the honor roll. Outside of school, Dickey enjoys hiking and being with her friends. After high school, she would like to attend a good college and then pursue a career in the government.
Chambers, a seventh grader, is the daughter of Sarah Chambers of Mayville. Chambers took advantage of many opportunities in elementary school (singing in the chorus, performing in musicals, playing the clarinet in band, participating in Battle of the Books, playing basketball and volleyball, and participating in ski club and Student Administration.) She is currently playing modified basketball and is planning on playing volleyball. She is still uncertain about her future plans, but she would “like to go to an Ivy League college if possible.”
