4-H To Hold LEAF Jr. Native Wildflower Class
Chautauqua County 4-H is offering local youth an opportunity to learn about native wildflowers and create seed creatures to plant native wildflowers. The class is open to all youth in third through 12th grades. They do not need to be a 4-H member to participate. This class will be held May 1 at the Carnahan Center at Jamestown Community COllege at 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required at bit.ly/25LeafJRSpring, by emailing chautauqua4h@cornell.edu, or by calling the Cornell Cooperative Extension office at 664-9502, ext. 212. The cost for the class is $15 for non-4-H members and $10 for 4-H members. Youth will leave with a seed creature made of clay containing native wildflower seeds donated by Royal Fern Nursery in Fredonia. Youth can later “plant” the wildflower seeds by soaking their seed creature with water and tossing it into a space they’d like to see wildflowers grow.
