Kiantone Fire Dept. Fish Fry Dinners Over
For Season
The Kiantone Fire Department has already held its final fish fry dinner for the season. There will be no dinner served Friday. Due to a production error, a brief in Monday’s edition of The Post-Journal erroneously stated a dinner was scheduled.
‘No Kings’
March To Be Held Saturday
In Dunkirk
DUNKIRK – Saturday marks the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolutionary War with the battles of Lexington and Concord. The “No Kings” march, which will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., is an homage to the Revolutionary War. The march will begin at the D&F plaza’s Central Avenue, Dunkirk, entrance, and will continue down Central Avenue before ending at the Dunkirk pier. The march will be 2.7 miles in entirety. There will be two stations designated along the route, at Lucas Avenue and by Brooks Hospital where water will be available and marchers can join or drop out if they wish. The march will be a demonstration of support for democracy and against any form of autocracy.
Kennedy First UMC To Host Sunrise Service Sunday
Michelle Swanson will be giving the Easter message at Kennedy First United Methodist Church. The Sonrise service at 7 a.m. will be the church’s only service that day. Communion will be given as part of the worship service. A pancake breakfast will be served in the fellowship hall following the Sonrise service. There will be no 11:15 a.m. service.
Mayville Library Board To Meet
MAYVILLE – The Mayville Library Board of Directors will meet on Monday at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
Sinclairville Library To Host Author Monday
SINCLAIRVILLE – Local author Walt Pickut will be at the Sinclairville Free Library on Monday at 6 p.m. to discuss The First Counterspy, a book with local connections. Pickut began his writing career after retiring from the health care field, and previously served as newspaper editor for the Jamestown Gazette. He has published five books as a freelancer, co-author or ghostwriter: The First Counterspy, The Best Years of My Life, a Patient’s Guide to LASIK Eye Surgery, A Patient’s Guide to Varicose Vein Surgery, and Think Like A Winner. The author will also discuss his current works in process: a science fiction novel and a how-to book on becoming a ghostwriter.
Senior Council To Host Trivia Contest May 8
ASHVILLE – The United Senior Council of Chautauqua County will be hosting its annual trivia contest on Thursday, May 8, at 1 p.m. at the North Harmony Senior Center on Stow Road in Ashville. There will be cash prizes for the top three teams, basket giveaways, a bake sale, 50-50 giveaway and free refreshments. Dennis Webster will be the master of ceremonies. Register at the door.
