Historical Society To Host

Speaker Today

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues today at 7 p.m. as Cindy Rodgers and father-in-law Mike Rodgers share tips on how to use genealogy to identify relatives pictured in old photographs. They will also share an exciting discovery of a bundle of old journals found by the new owner of a home occupied by Rodgers’ family for a century. First Lutheran Church To

Host Lenten

Service Today

The Rev. Timothy Hoyer, pastor of Tree of Life Lutheran Church in Jamestown and the Falconer Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will be the guest speaker at the midweek noon-time Lenten Service at the First Lutheran Church today. The Lenten services are sponsored by the Southwestern Conference Lutherans and will be held in the Memorial Chapel which is handicap accessible. The 12 p.m. service will be followed by a soup, salad, and homemade pie luncheon in the church parlors for a nominal fee. The luncheon is sponsored by the First Lutheran Altar Society. The public is welcome to attend.

Bach’s Lunches Begin Today At First Presbyterian

“Bach’s Lunch” is a series of six, 20-minute recitals for keyboard, every Wednesday in Lent, featuring music that inspired Bach, was composed by Bach, or that he might very well have loved if he’d encountered it. All concerts are performed by David Horne at the keyboard in Bellinger Chapel at the First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown. Dates are March 12, 19, 26, April 2 and April 9. Concerts begin at 11:40 a.m. and are followed immediately by a prayer service in the chapel and a light lunch afterwards in Merwin Fellowship Hall. Additional music will be provided by Melanie Gritters, Carolyn Whitehead, and the First Pres Strings.

Frewsburg School Board To Meet Thursday

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a budget workshop at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and its regular meeting following at 6 p.m. in the middle-high school library. The public is welcome to attend.

Prendergast Library Board To Meet Thursday

The James Prendergast Library’s next Board of Trustees meeting will be held at the library on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. Board meetings are open to the public.

Outdoor Club To Hike At Audubon Sunday

Members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike Sunday at the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. The group will meet at the kiosk at 2 p.m. Earl and Linda Ross will be the leader for the hike.
