Thrift Shop

Open Saturday

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. The shop is stocked with winter clothing for men, women and children, and small household items. Most winter apparel is now half price or less. All proceeds are used for outreach in the local community.

First Lutheran To Begin Lenten Midweek

Services

The Rev. Mark E. Swanson, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will be the preacher and preside at the midweek noon-time Ash Wednesday Service at the First Lutheran Church on Wednesday. Holy Communion will be observed as well as the imposition of ashes. The weekly Lenten services are sponsored by the Southwestern Conference Lutherans and will be held in the Memorial Chapel which is handicap accessible. The noon service will be followed by a soup, salad, and homemade pie luncheon in the church parlors for a nominal fee. The luncheon is sponsored by the First Lutheran Altar Society. The public is welcome to attend. Prior to the Ash Wednesday service, on Wednesday, the First Lutheran congregation will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with an all-you-can-eat pancake supper and Mardi Gras Night in the church parlors on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Members and friends are encouraged to perform live. Karaoke will be available. An offering will be received.

Planning Board To Meet March 6

FALCONER – The Falconer Planning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, will meet to discuss mobile food unit regulations in the Community Building Board Room, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. The public is welcome to attend.

Harmony Senior Citizens To

Meet March 6

PANAMA – The Harmony Senior Citizens will meet at noon Thursday, March 6, at the Panama Methodist Church for a tureen luncheon. Members are to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. A reminder if the Panama Central School is closed due to weather, the senior citizens’ meeting is automatically cancelled. All area seniors are invited to attend.

Kiantone

Congregational Church To

Host Special Bible Study

KIANTONE – A special Lenten Bible study at Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road, Kiantone, called “The Hours Jesus Endured the Cross” will be held on Mondays from March 10 to April 14 at 11 a.m. to noon. Attendees will be given handouts of the timeline of the hours and events, as well as a map tracing the route Jesus walked with his cross to the place of his crucifixion. Pastor Mel McGinnis will lead the interactive study. All are welcome. Call the church at 716-569-2210 if interested so there will be sufficient handouts for those attending.
