County Parks Commission To Meet

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet Thursday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Airport conference room in Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Fenton History Center To Close For Maintenance

The Fenton History Center Museum and Research Center will be closed for cleaning and maintenance beginning Saturday through Sunday, March 16. Plans are underway to clean the mansion and research center, repair some exhibit areas, update labels in the museum, and organize the research center storage areas.

Outdoor Club To Host Potluck Meal Sunday

The Allegheny Outdoor Club will be holding a garbage can turkey potluck at Chapman Dam, Pavilion 2, on the spillway side at 3 p.m. Sunday. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass, their own table service, table cloth and drink. Those who want to hike should meet at the spillway parking area at 1:30 p.m. Greg Burkett will be the leader.

City Zoning Board Of Appeals To Gather

The Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the City Council chambers on the second floor of City Hall to consider two area variances for the Gateway Lofts Supportive Apartments on Water Street. The variances are to allow 148 parking spaces instead of the required 251 spaces and a set back variance for automotive use on the west property line of the property. Comments in writing may also be submitted via U.S. mail to the City Clerk’s Office, 200 E. Third St., Jamestown, NY 14701 or emailing clerk@jamestownny.gov. Comments will be read into the record and transcribed. The meeting will be livestreamed at www.jamestownny.gov/live.

Health Department To Hold Rabies Clinic March 8

The Chautauqua County Health Department is announcing a free rabies vaccination clinic sponsored by the Chautauqua County Humane Society and the Health Department from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 8. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. While supplies last, microchipping and distemper shots will also be available through the Chautauqua County Humane Society at no cost. The Chautauqua County Humane Society is located at 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend are asked to cancel their reservation so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received when registering.
